Sewing Machine

OMG … my sister said the sewing machine she was giving me wasn’t that heavy and was easy to use. That it had a multitude of stiches etc. IT’S NOTHING LIKE THAT! It’s from the dark ages – seriously. I’ve actually managed to thread it up now (which I was really impressed with myself about) and got it working – however I don’t think it’s for me. The table is straining under the weight. It’s a Jones Brother one which means it’s a good old make – but I’m sorry – I need something light and small. I feel really bad but it scares me! ha ha.

My parents’ bought me a sewing box which is lovely – it’s quite ‘twee’ but it really is a lovely make. We were also inundated with a multitude of chocolates. We must be getting old, honestly, we got so many chocolates this year.

I’m going to try and sew something later and post it here – but – I know I’m going to be on later buying a new sewing machine. M’s dad gave me some £ for Christmas – I’ll get a sewing machine with it!

the creative buzz

It’s 1:51 am and I’ve been awake for two hours. I was determined NOT to start ‘creating’ – I was determined that I would go back to sleep – but I can’t. I have three bags of goodies in the cupboard – waiting to be transformed into something.

Yesterday M took me to HobbyCraft – probably the best hobby store near us. I’d rather go to a privately owned business rather than a ‘megastore’ – but sometimes needs must (etc.). While there, I bought some cute boxes to decorate, a mask to turn into a green man, a rotary cutter (whoop), glue (double whoop), ribbon, paint and feathers 🙂 I know what I’m going to make, I just need to get my ass upstairs and print some photos off.

Later today we’re going to see my family – we were meant to go there for Christmas, however I’ve had the lurgy for a week and I really couldn’t bear the thought of being around my sister and her ‘brood’ while feeling sick. I can’t wait to see my nephew – we get on so well and he makes me SO happy.

Right – Jagged Edge (which I’ve been watching) has come to an end – so I’m now going to print off those photographs and create, create, create 🙂

Starting again …

This year I’ve decided that I want to be more creative with my photography – in fact – I want to be more creative generally – therefore I’m continuing with this blog to chart my creative streak 🙂

Firstly – I have an etsy site:

new EtsyNameSpace.Mini(5675216, ‘shop’,’thumbnail’,4,4).renderIframe();

Here I will be selling my photography as prints, digital collage sheets as well as using them for other projects. I’ve also started making jewelry again and later today I pick up my Christmas present from my sister – her old sewing machine! So no doubt I’ll start sewing sewing sewing too 🙂 On top of that, I also make collages, collect vintage photographs and postcards and generally try to do as much as I possibly can! However – this will concentrate most of all on my photography.

Anyway – welcome – I hope you enjoy my work – and even if it’s not to your taste – I’m quite nice really so come and say ‘hi’ 🙂

Print sale to raise funds for WM3

I’ve been a long-time supporter of the WM3 (West Memphis Three) and I’ve been wanting to raise money for them somehow in order to help with their re-trials, and general financial support for their families.

So I came up with the idea that I could raise funds by selling my photos.

I approached Brian Viglione and Amanda Palmer from The Dresden Dolls with regard to selling my images of them to raise funds.  They’ve both said yes – to photos of the band, Brian’s band World/Inferno Friendship Society and also Amanda’s solo shots.  I’m still waiting to hear back from Margaret Cho about photos I have of her from when she compared their show at The Roundhouse.

I’d like to use one solo Amanda, one Dresden Dolls, and Brian said I can use as many as I want of him – so I have photos of him from The Roundhouse, with Jesse Malin and with World/Inferno.

I’m not sure if anyone’s going to buy these – but I’m hoping people will – as it’s for a good cause (in my humble opinion).

So – I’m handing things over to you guys – which photos would you pick?

Here are the albums:

World/Inferno Friendship Society Photo Shoot in Brighton and shenanigans

Amanda Palmer – Koko – 10/10/08

Amanda Palmer – ICA – 21/8/08

World/Inferno Friendship Society – Brighton – 21/7/08

The Dresden Dolls – Roundhouse – 4/11/06

The Dresden Dolls – Roundhouse – 3/11/06

(I’m also waiting for permission to use photos of Margaret Cho from The Roundhouse)

Hopefully there might be one or two shots there that people might be interested in?
